Piruntupa

About Piruntupa – Authentic Lakeside Cottage by Saimaa

Piruntupa is located at Oriniementie 810, right on the peaceful shores of Orivirta – a scenic strait in the Lake Saimaa archipelago. The village of Savonranta is only 2.7 km away by road, or just a few minutes by boat. Savonlinna is 53 km away and Joensuu 81 km. Originally built in the early 1900s as a ferry landing house, Piruntupa still features its historic barn and a lakeside sauna (renovated in 2024 with a new ceiling and premium Ikikiuas stove). Orivirta connects Paasvesi, Pyyvesi, and Enonvesi lakes to the broader Haukivesi basin.

Fully renovated in 2024, Piruntupa now combines modern comfort with historical charm. The cozy 60 m² interior features all-new furnishings and up-to-date amenities. The cottage comfortably accommodates four people. There’s a combined kitchen and living room, and two separate bedrooms: one with a 90 cm bed and the other with an 80 cm bed – ideal for families or small groups.

The cottage’s private beach offers year-round swimming. Thanks to the flowing Orivirta waters, the shoreline rarely freezes over, even in deep winter. For safety reasons, children should be closely supervised while swimming. Walking on the ice is not possible directly from Piruntupa. If you’re interested in winter fishing, we recommend hiring a local guide who knows the safe routes across the ice.
